you could not make it up,

we have a guy on the sheffield forum doing consumer upgrades for 80 pound and customer supplies new board.

when looking at his user profile he is a customer adviser lol..

Unfortunately the public would go for it no questions asked, Part P farce!!

Our LABC are now writing to all passed planning apps that all work must be carried out by an electrician who is part of the competant persons scheme, and informing them that their home insurance may be void if not!

 
before you start binky i am a DI .. and yes plent of rubbish approved installers to .. :)

but would have to say most DI`s are not worth a second look. i am sure your work is great and the fact that you are on an electrical forum like me shows that you do want to learn ..

Now that's not actually the case in my understanding.

If I have applied for planning that usually includes the notification and inspection required for the electrical installation and I could therefore do the electrical work myself and get BCO to test (or appoint someone else to test) and issue a completion certificate.

All legal and above board.

I find it disappointing if the LABC is giving out wrong information just to save it's cost and effort in inspecting the electrical installation.
