Hi All!

When I replaced my consumer unit, the electrician accidently cut power to all the flats. I have lost contact with him.

Power is restored but I am wondering how he cut the power and how to fix the issue?

I think it was the small black boxes in the top left in tamper proof cases. Do you know what these are?

I will get an electrician to take a look too but I wanted an opinion

Thanks!

So the mains fuse is shared? In the Henley blocks, that is where the mains separates and goes to the other flats?

Apart from the Pyro, is it OK to have such a shared setup?

Are those two bell transformers actually live, pictures are a bit blurred.

Surely if the power is restored....
Then the issue is already fixed.??

And you say "I have lost contact with him."

again surely his contact details, (and probably his registration number for maybe NIC /. ELECSA / NAPIT etc )..
Will be on the electrical certificate, (and building regs compliance notification he issued) ?

Or you will be able to find him via the find a contractor section of his trade bodies website.

There is no way that I would be potentially paying the electric for another flat with this set up?

I think we can safely say whoever left this lot like that wasn't an electrician
Can you expand on how you have come to that conclusion.

If I were a betting man I would be putting my £50 on Brusparks assumption being correct..

As the installation looks a bit piss-poor in my book...

e.g. I would have put some form of identification on those various Green/Yellows in the earth block...

Cable entry of the tails looks a bit dubious..

Generally in my personal experience electrical contractors who are proud of their work tend to put some form of advertising sticker with contact details on the front of all CU's they install.. [ e.g. Installed By "Excellent Electricians Phone 1234-567890 www.sparkysontheweb.com ]
As its nice easy free advertising space and/or good contact info if property if sold and new owners come in...

Who in their right mind would leave those bell transformers with exposed terminals... simple to either replace or remove.
etc..

Of course it may be a pucka electrician who is just shy and has no pride in their work...
But I am still swinging toward the Bruspark evaluation..

I will sort of ask again.....

Did you get ANY paperwork, (electrical certificate), issued with this job?
