I quite liked the monkees part of my growing up was at a local pub which had a disco at the weekend the monkees was always a favourite.

I grew up with them too and find it a little sad. When I mentioned it to my business partner (25 yrs old) he said 'who? Legendary songs which if you have been to any karaoke bar you will have heard.

I think when show biz people in the public eye ,who we have known for all those years ,die , we become aware of our own mortality.

Well thats what the missus said, I think shes right . I have to say that many people of my generation were stunned when Elvis died . Forget the

sanitized, ex army, hollywood version, he took popular music by the throat and shook the hell out of it !!

I remember some performers being branded as unfashionable, not trendy, not "today" . This happened to The Monkees ( Fabricated Group etc) also to ABBA yet here in the future we see that their songs are still popular and are expertly crafted pop songs expertly performed.

I,m far too young to remember these things Specs , you'll be on about Cliff Richard and The Drifters on the Oh! Boy! programme next or watching Fireball XL5 after school.

Lonnie Donegan ??? Naw never heard of him , we never tried to form a Skiffle Group you must be thinking of Steps.
