deadlocks for vans

Afternoon everyone, after a long time working out of my car, my company have finally got a new batch of vans coming in this week, my car was an unlikely target as it had privacy windows so no one knew I had tools and materials in my motor, but a van everyone knows what's behind closed doors, and I would hate for all my tools to go for a burton,

So I've decided to get deadlocks for the new van, has anyone got these on their van?are they any good, I'd rather them then the big ugly disc lock ones ,

Has anyone been broken into even tho it had dead locks, any help would be great, also if anyone knows who fits them.

Put it like this Sam , the low life that crawl from under their stones when they spot a trademan's van are generally as thick as porcine bowel movements , except for one thing , they can open a van in seconds if it has just the original locks .

I've had my gear nicked from 3 different vans , all Ford Escorts of different vintages , police are not bothered, probably do you for that dodgey break light while they're there.

So I have a hasp and padlock on the back and there was a load cage fitted (ex BT). Touch wood , no bother as yet , I think getting past the padlock slows them down, plus they'd have to carry those big bolt cutters. You need all the security you can afford TBH .

I remember that my brother used to carry expensive equipment , used estate cars , all the doors were fitted with Chubb deadlocks.

I got my van done over in my first year and I got the ugly disc lock and touch wood iv had no bother since.

It's sh@t but in these times I'd rather have an eye sore on the back door of the van than my gear knicked

My van has deadlocks, never had a problem with kit being nicked and work all over the country. They are those factory fitted ones ( two pushes of the key fob) funny when there is a passenger as they can't get out once locked, not sure how easy for the thieves to break tho

look for weak spots and where you could break in, then alter it

I have the new Vivaro Sportive with deadlocks (also alarm & immobiliser) as ElektecAir mentioned. The Vivaro had the highest security rating but the scum have worked out you can prise the whole handle assembly out the back door and put your hand in to reach the release cables. So i had the seperate deadlocks fitted. I do know of several trademen who have had their doors crowbar'd open even with these locks fitted . Each time it has wrecked the door /side panels and has cost a fortune to repair. The Vivaro is fairly good as the extra locks are sheilded and in tight spots, unlike a plumber i know with a Mazda panel van where you can see the locks bolt through the gap, he has had the van done over twice, once in Tesco's car park on a Sat afternoon. I have also followed a few vans with these deadlocks where you can see the doors have still been jemmed open, wrecking the panels. I think the disc locks are the best.
