Dimmer switch help.

Hi all - complete newbie question.

i want to replace a standard rocker switch with a dimmer in the hallway.

the rocker has 4 wires in it - and can be controlled from 2 other switches... what kind of dimmer switch do i need?  I had a spare dimmer which is onely a 1gang 1way - guessing i cant use that.  So do i just need to order a standard 3 way?

the wires are yellow and blue

sounds like in intermediate switch which dont exist as a dimmer (well, none that i know of). the 2 way switches could be changed to a dimmer though

Good luck, dimmers are only available in 1 way and 2 way. I have never seen an intermediate/3 way dimmer. As Andy  says, you will need to fit a 2 way dimmer to one of the other 2 switch positions.

Or re-wire it to move the intermediate to one of the other positions. (Not a simple task.)

Or change all switches to a remote controlled dimmer. (Not simple either.)
