Hello all,

Been round to a house to look at a cable the customer wanted moving - turns out it was the DNO incoming cable so no moving there! The reason they wanted it moving is it comes from a concrete floor up about 2.5 foot then goes into the head. However this is in a cupboard in the living room where the kids keep there toys and the live looks to be only single insulated, the neutral looks to be a multicore which is single insulated and the earth is a multi core with looked like 6 cores but only 2 of these were connected to MET, others had been cut off. I suggested calling the DNO but whether they do anything or not I wait to see! If they don't then could the whole head and meter and area where the cores are exposed etc be enclosed in a wooden box and the cable put in some 50x50 trunking? The worry is the kids damaging it with their toy box - I know what your going to say don't let the kids put there toys there but you know how some people can be!!

Took a couple of phots which I will try and post shortly.

Easiest to block it off somehow maybe with a bit of board. If they want to spend the money you could get meter moved outside.

Yeah, pic was handy.

2 options, box it all in or get the DNO on the case.

as andy says, but the problem is you are in essex and the EDFs approach to their sub standard equipment is not the best or helpful at all.

Looks like pme supply best to put cupboard around it somehow.
Not PME, the 2 remaining cores from the earth go to the MET then a 6mm cable goes from that to the rewirable fuse box above. The only bonding I could find was a 2.5mm on the gas but this was well after the meter and after a T peice - looked like the gas meter has been moved at somepoint but no-one did the bonding! Could find no bonding at all on water.

House built approx 1975 by the way

To me it looks like they have split copper cores between live and earth probably why they are not insulated.
I was referring more to the recent TN-C-S\PME debate. ;)

id certainly have the DNO out to look at that set up, i would have that replaced asap

Your not wrong there, they are completely useless! Won't even come and fit an isolator anymore - all they are willing to do is pull the main fuse then come back when its ready to go back on. bloody snail eaters!!
