Safe isolation not applicable then. Not saying you can;t do it live, but the same applies for that, once you've got the meter seal cut you might as well cut the fuse seal.
But then you have got to handle main fuse proper gloves etc etc.

im changing an old fuse board for a customer and normally give them the number for e.on to come out and install a isolator in the tails (id rather not cut seals and pull fuses!), and they normally come out within a week. but for some reason they have now passed it on to southern electric (customers supplier)- they have told my customer to buy an isolator and they'd come and fit it.My questions are

any idea what there called? (obviously DP isolator) and where to get one from (ie would a wholesalers stock them - didnt get told till 1730 tonight)

or would a standard DP 100A Isolator like this

be any good.

That's odd ! I'm a southern electric customer and I requested a D P isolator to be fitted by my meter and a man from e.on came out and fitted one all within a week and at no charge . :D

hi megaohm, dont suppose you have the number you rang have you, as when ive rung just get passed from pillar to post.

cheers

if changing tails, i often only cut seal on meter and leave fuse in place. especially on older fuse holders that may break easily. if not changing tails, cut seal on head and remove fuse
