Domestic lighting circuit with a B6 MCB, (EXCLUDING BATHROOMS) If i extend the lighting circuit & place an additional load on the lighting circuit (within the design limits of the cct protective device) and the cct is NOT already RCD protected - am i required to install RCD protection to the lighting circuit under BS7671, what if the additional load is to be installed within the KITCHEN? Just trying to find some clarification of this, hope a quick answer here may help - Cheers.

It depends mainly on where your additional cables are.

If they are buried in a wall less than 50mm deep, then you WILL need RCD protection.

Why not just change the RCD for an RCBO that's the simple and cheap way to achieve compliance.

The cables would be within part of the ceiling and only surface plastic mini trunking on the wall. None of the lighting circuits have any RCD protection - My question is, do i need to replace the MCB for RCBO as the work is installed in the Kitchen (i do'nt want to spend any more than i have to - time or money).
