Just to add. Does anyone use hinge cutting bits. I've got a set from 10mm up to 35mm I think for about

set the drill clutch/torque low, so if it does snag, it wont force the bit round and do more damage

ive looked at the step drill noz, bit pricy aint they!

i ment like the one patch linkes with a sharp point to dig in so it does not slip around, that bit might slip and i think spade bits are a bit vicious.

general concencuss seams to be the step drill though

These tend to grab badly as they break through. I deffinatly would NOT use one for this job.
