So following the new amendment, I updated my certs and have already starting using them.

I for one welcome this new PIR,

It's sped me up incredibly because it's like have a checklist to go through and gives you a structure on what to inspect.

Also, when I coded undersized earthing, no RCDs, I have them in a nice checklist so it looks like it's not some made up bulls**t. But also when I code trivial stuff like lack of switch-line identification, that's also there on the checklist. It really helps when I have to go through the results with the client.

So my opinion is you should all get your certs updated asap, because it makes PIRs that much better

Does anybody know if Easycert's latest version includes the "electrical installation condition report"?

Not yet I don't think as everyone had to wait until the brb was published on the 1/7, thus it is only since then they will have been able to work on the updates, though I suspect that there will be a free upgrade?...

Just a guess?

I know SW, but they are based on the model form, I use NIC ones, and yes, they do have extra stuff on them.

just wondering as the amd1 isnt in force yet you need to be careful NOT to put stuff on your new forms that isnt a requirement until Jan.

True, my AE said Tuesday (I may have put Wed, in another post but it was Tue!) that I am free to use Amd1 from 1/7/11,which I did not know, but it is not compulsory until 1/1/12, which I knew.

oh, so you can use it now then,?

or is that just his opinion?

I havent read it yet, but would it be possible to install something that complies with AMD1 but wouldnt comply with the regs as they stand?

who then would be liable? you cant put down

'this installation complies with BS7671 -2008 amd 2012.'

probably the same as when 17th came in - you could use either for 6 month

you have to write on the cert which BS7671 you're following every time you fill one out

There is normally a transition period to allow for jobs already quoted or in progress before a new amendment becomes obligatory. I was under the impression that once a new issue or amendment is published work can be done to the new standard immediately. However in practice, until electricians have seen and digested any new regs, they do not normally plan work to a standard they are not yet familiar with. As Ash says the declaration box should be completed with the date and amendments that thew work complies to.
