Over the holidays I was called out to a property to do a job, and whilst there the owner presented me with a little dilemma.

Its a flat above a shop in a listed building, he estimated it as late 19th century. The bathroom has been steaming up so he wants an extractor fan fitted, but as its listed we cant cut a hole in the wall. Nor can we route through the ceiling as there is another flat above that.

So that leaves the window mounted extractor fan option. Except that this place has sash windows with both pains of glass moving.

Ive got to be honest, im stumped. How the heck can a fan be mounted to those type of windows?

I'd suggest talking to English Heritage for advice TBH.

Van you change the window?

Are you "sure" you can't punch a hole in the wall, I know CADW will allow this with their blessing, it just has to be carefully done with their guidance.

You "may" need a listed buildings architect involved also.

Fans are the best for getting damp out of bathrooms, that is a given.

It is only a thought, but wall mounted bathroom dehumidifiers with an

IP2X rating are available.

Like I said, just a thought.
