I need to get an extractor fan installed in my kitchen.

The question i have is wether to install a pull cord type and then I will put some ducting from my extractor hood and route it towards the fan, or connect the ducting to the fan & use the hood as the switch.

The big concern i have is preventing any reduction in heating in the room.

Option 1 I would be able to wire it to a plug that is above the kitchek units, option 2 I'm not sure about

thanks

Jay

I am not entirely sure what you are trying to do here. OP is confusing.

I currently have a big condensation/damp problem & it is coming from the kitchen & the wife's cooking...a lot of steam is being made in there.

currently the hood only extracts smells but it can be converted to extract steam by hooking up some ducting I think

thanks

OK, I see. Hook up some ducting then.

I think 'hooking up some ducting' is option 3 as it was missing from your OP. Are you sure you know what you're doing?

nope. i have no idea what i'm doing.

I'll get someone to do it for me & buy a dehumidifier to deal with the excess from the wife.

thanks

Why the dehumidifier? Get the extractor ducted to the outside and that should cure most of it. I haven't found the cheap dehumidifiers to be much cop tbh.

To be honest I really do not think a cooker hood will do much to help you with your damp issue. I would recommend a 150mm humidistat controlled extract fan.

Envirovent would do the job,

But, if it's purely cooking causing the issue then the extractor hood ducted outside will be just as effective.

tbh, I really don't understand why people think that a cooker hood NOT ducted outside is doing anything effective at all.
