Hi all,

I have put new circuits in a kitchen. The brickwork is really crumbly and struggling to fix the back boxes to the brickwork. I believe expanding foam does the trick. Can anyone recommend something? Thanks

If its that bad, I would knock up some compo , stiff mix , and set your boxes in it, might need to drill for a fixing next day when dry.

Or bonding plaster with a bit of cement mixed in.

That CT1 stuff that city electrical keeps advertising would be up to the job :)

Bonding plaster is the best thing for the job. It dries in no time and you don't even need to fix the boxes after.

i use bonding plaster, just blob it in and push the back box into it, gets a well nice level finish.

for bit of extra strength i push a couple of plugs through then screw into them when plaster dry.

best thing about plaster- its cheap!

Board adhesive is good and if you want it to go off rapid mix it with a bit of dirty plaster water.
