Flamco Flexvent help

I have air in the HW/CH system & had noticed that the flamco flexvent located at the tank is coated in limescale so not venting.

I have discovered that the red cap comes off & so to does the knerled top ring...however the lime scale seal has been broke & now I have a contious dribble of water from the bleed hole......now not being a plumber I now wish I'd left the f*** aloneheadbang (will I never learn)..

So my question is can the red insert with the outer seal & bleed hole be removed & cleaned to allow (what i suspect is below) the valve to close?

All this started because one of the rads developed a leak & I needed to change it
