Hi all

trying to do a bit of research on wood bits

looking at putting together some tool kits and wondered what the most commonly used sizes of flat bits and auger bits were

also do you use any of the nail proof type bits

thanks

Speaking from experience the nail proof bits are not that nail proof

What people fail to realise is that woodbits work better on a slower speed, they don’t need full trigger as they just burn out.
Used on a slower speed maybe 3/4’s you will drill just as quick with cleaner holes and the bit will last much longer.

And don't forget the allowable zones in joists as per the OSG.

Bosch self cut every time. you can frop on them cheap enough on amazon. Get a set of them by all means then you will have a variety, but I only ever carry 25mm normal, 14mm and 25mm long. Never really find myself needing anything else when it comes to holes in wood for cables.

Edit: oh and cheapo 20mm flat bit just for hole in plasterboard when you are surfacing something in YT2. 25mm can be a bit big for that and leave a bit of mess on show.
