Calibration for me every time, its valid from date of purchase, and ready to use when delivered. Thats my choice A. Choice B would be a good lead set. Choice C would be the case, just because most testers come with a case. With the exception of some I suppose.

calibration,

or, the voucher thing is a good idea, repeat custom, or redeemable there and then,

prob with the voucher I can see is it depends on the mark up for the item the customer wants,

could be an expensive item with a small margin, or a cheaper item with a big margin, how could you work one voucher covers everything????

I think that would be unworkable.

if the free calibration is too rich how about half price?

only thing then is some people couldnt care less about in a years time money off.

have you ever thought about some sort of loyalty scheme?

whereby you remain a member for 13months after purchase for special offers etc, and the more you purchase the more offers you are eligible for?

obviously it would be on a rolling membership IYKWIM, that way once you purchase a MFT you are eligible for 50% off 1 cal valid for 13months from that date,

buy an impact/combi drill you get 25% off drill/driver bits(if you sold them) or 10% on the next power tool, or something similar,

does that make sense to anyone but me?

As has been said,,, notihing comes for free

So barring a killer price.......

1. Cal cert

2. Good leads

3. Good case that will take cert pads as well

4. A spare set of a well known brand of battery

My local CEF are doing OK and are very busy at the moment, had breakfast with them this weekend. As for freebies, Kerching raised a good point, employees will often go and buy some expensive stock items just to get the freebie. I think any freebie should be work related, I personally like the voucher system. After that is would be test leads, and for any tester the first calibration.
Viking direct are the worst for that. Freebies that are so obviously aimed at the person ordering that are unrelated to most work items.

And i vote for the Caibration Cert.

Quite a lot of testers come with a Certificate of Conformity which is valid from date of purchase. Isn't this good enough? Or do you all prefer/need the proper certificate, with test results and your company name. This always seems to start confusion. We have testers which say Free Calibration Included, which is the conformity certificate, but we still have the option to add a calibration certificate. I've always been under the impression that a conformity certificate is sufficient for inspections. I quite like the idea of

Quick question to everyone really,When you go to buy a new bit of equipment, say a multifunction tester, what sways you to buy from one company rather than the other? Is it just the price? past sales history? or freebies?

There are so many ways to market products these days and was curious to try and work out what sort of freebies sell a product?

Everyone likes something for free but what makes it worthwhile?

A piece of test equipment? tools? gadgets like ipods or heated jackets? or is it just the price?

I ask this becuase it seems silly to waste time and money on freebies people don't want. So I put the question to you lot.......what do you want?
No free stuff required Megger Mike, just your cheery smile and happy disposition will swing any deal ; \

Im confused

when i bought my tester from you 4 years ago it came with a calibration cert as standard ??????

so what has changed ????

From a business point of view if you can do a calibration 'in house' you are using kit that you already own and there is no actual outlay, whereas if you give away a 'shark laser' than you have to buy them in the first place?

Myself I decide what I want, then shop around for the best price on something. I take delivery into account. I do take sellers reputation into account to for higher value items (I'd risk the money on ebay for some pliers, but not a

Some Manufactures do calibrate thier instrument at the end of the line and we indicate this with a Free Calibration tab, however it is not all kit.

I would rather have just cheaper prices for everything and stuff any offers or freebies altogether.....

As has already been said....

nothing is for free...

someone pays for it somewhere along the line. :|

Actually thinking further...

once you know of a particular supplier & have used them before and are happy with their service....

Then you are quite likely to go back and use them again...

Freebies or not!

BUT..

If you have never used someone before..

and you have a choice of two or three unknown suppliers,

maybe an offer by one of them could be the option that swings the choice!

One of the MOST important things is that any advertised prices are the actual full amount you are paying..

item+vat+delivery+any other essential bits!

Nothing hidden..

no scares when you reach the checkout!

I use a mobile tyre fitter and their internet site is great for displaying the proper full price..

Tyre+Valves+Balance+Fitting+Disposal charges etc.. etc..

Some others only show the tyre price then wazz a whole bunch of additional costs on at the endX( X(

Bit like the package holiday surcharged added after you thought you had saved
