gone 3 months without syncing the 3 family iphones and 2ipads, tonights job, just what you need on a friday... Guinness

nothing like it though, great for work and play :) i might try the wifi option, but its almost as painful. i only run laptops at mo. ive got the missus a macbook air, iv got a think pad for work and another laptop i play around with linux on. my itunes library is stored on a mirrored nas, so itunes on the thinkpad, connected to the nas. bit complicated. thinking of building a server to handle most of this so it can all run in the background. i have one massive music collection along with photo libraries and a lot of documents and job reports etc for work. but im moving house soon to a much bigger house with a workshop etc so might have to wait till then with more room.

why dont you just use your NAS ?

WTF bother having it otherwise?

set up your NAS and have everything else run through it, why are you thinking of setting up a server etc if you already have a NAS?

:C

be nice to access remotley.. and have A central system rather than just shuffling files about.

and you use your NAS for what exactly?

NAS

is how I use mine anyway,

I think the clue is in the word 'server' , near the end of the first sentence. :|

Get a Synology Box (NAS) - best thing you will ever invest in, Raid 6 (if enough HDD's) and among other things an iTunes serverI have two 1512's and an 812 rack mount, all in different locations, pure quality just like apple, no frills, they just work, never crash and do what they say on the tin (linux based by the way)....
One of the few occasions where Canoe and I completely agreed on hardware, can't think of a better NAS range than Synology
