OK, that looks like your looking through some aramount wall at the back of a socket, but instead of using a back box they've used a frame type thingy?

Went to dissconnect kitchen socket from kitchen wall that was fed from living room so cut hole at back of socket and was shocked to see it at first but opened a few and all are the same house was built in the 70s ex council house not sure if that's what we're used then but I've never come across them

I have corrected that socket in question by fitting a fast fix box I've to test/ certify the other circuits has I have changed the consumer unit having changed the circuit correct me if wrong ?

Consumer unit change is a full inspection and test of all circuits effected.

You are NOT responsible for the existing installation, other then to confirm acceptable insulation resistence, continuity of CPCs, earthing etc.

The EIC has a box for "Comments on existing installation"

Consumer unit change is a full inspection and test of all circuits effected.
A phrase such as full inspection can be misleading as even a periodic inspection is not a full inspection, rather it is a sample inspection. There is no obligation to undertake greater testing during a CU change than you would do on a PIR. But you do need to verify that all of the circuit cables that you reconnect will be safe in relation to the new protective devices in the CU. As Sparkytim suggests this would include IR, CPC continuity, Zs, but you don't have to go around opening up accessories. As always it will be dependent upon what is agreed with the customer.
