Hello everyone,

I've been looking through the forum for a few days now and come across great help for my AM2 that I started today.....

I started on my composite install and think it went well. I've got the pyro, motor to wire up, bonding of trunking and tray, emergency light and the heater left to do.

Was just wondering if anybody that has done the AM2 would know the answer to a couple of questions....

1) On the neon at the emergency light switch does the neutral and live link just go into the top two connections? I mean does it matter which connection does which?

2) What is the best way to label everything? I mean for example the lighting circuit do I jus put a label on, such as on 1 end of the cable put A and where it ends up put B? I just have never done labelling on things such as this before so a little stuck.

Apart from these couple of slight hitches it's going ok I think :) I had to use a coupler on the conduit :( stupid mistake though lol

Anyway I hope I can get a good reply but if not then thanks for reading the post and hope to get lots more info in the coming years. It really is a great site

Not looking forward to the pyro tommorrow lol

Thanks

probably best part of a days work there. did you have fault finding etc today?

the neutral will go into a terminal and the switched live from keyswitch into the other. check the neon to see if it has L or N markings. electrically, it wont matter, but if it has markings, stick to it

when i done mine they had numbered markers. each conductor into DB had the circuit number marked

Apart from these couple of slight hitches it's going ok I think :) I had to use a coupler on the conduit :( stupid mistake though lol

many people have a coupler in conduit.

just remember to megger all cores often, so any faults can be corrected before you crimp the end. also, dont fix to tray before you terminate ends - gives you a little play on lengths for terminating, you can easily fix to bottom of tray, or top etc to get it to length. gives about 10cm play between terminations

Thanks

Thanks for your reply Andy!

I got it all in today, the only part I never completed was the labelling. Although I did all the labelling for the motor. I realised at the end I wired the ring main cpc in 2.5mm, was wondering should that have been 1.5mm although it's in conduit?

I did my visual inspection today aswel so I've got the majority of the testing to do tommorrow.

The only concerns I have about testing are the motor test so if you could explain how that is done I'd be greatful. I think I just have to disconnect the supply and then do the insulation from the board? And same with the cables going down to the motor. But a detailed guide would be helpful.

Thanks for your time Andy :)

using 2.5 for earth is fine.

you need to test IR on conductors from DB to contactor, and contactor to motor. you will need to remove connections from motor to test this.

Are those the only connections I have to remove then? I don't have to remove any connections in the contactor?

Hello all, just want to let everyone know that I passed my AM2 and I'm soooo happy :)
