does anyone have any problem with replies to questions being deleted mysteriously? I have three recorded ones now. Ok, one was a bit of rant, but the other two had genuine advice, IMHO. hello to you all by the way. this is so much better than facebook!

I suppose it depends on the content of the reply, the moderators have or appear to be very relaxed on this forum and allow any debate to be properly aired, I have never had a post deleted but then again I do try to be civil and I although can be frustrated try not to allow that to cloud my judgment.

I do not know what you have said but if they deleted it, it must have been against forum rules, or you have been grossly misunderstood :)

one was a reply about tax deductables where i advised to get a good accountant. surely good advice?? Another was about the suitability of the wording of an invoice and i pointed out some spelling mistakes. I have emailed admin about this censorship. Ta.

also, is there something i can tick, to alert me to replies to my posts, as its an aggro to look back at my posts then scroll through to see who has said what. cheers.

you can subscribe to a thread, and set either notifications in user CP, or to be emailed to you, when it gets a reply. or when looking through the threads, click the down arrow box to the left of the title to go to new posts

I have done some hunting through the archive.

1.The thread that you had a rant in was totally deleted. Not because of your comment but it was badly phrased.

2. There is no evidence of a post in the tax deductible thread (I can still see things if they are deleted). Could your browser have timed out?

3. The spelling mistake post - is it here?

pedantic, i know, but trees 'lose' their leaves, not 'loose'. it's all in the detail. i laugh all the time at the vans driving around advertising patio's, guttering's window's etc... why don't the sign writers pick it up? poor grammar and punctuation doesn't inspire confidence in the better educated and more desirably affluent potential customers.
We are not here to 'censor' the forum. Posts are only edited or deleted if they go against forum rules. If I have to delete a post I always PM the member and explain why. If minor editing goes on usually nothing is said - circumventing sware filter etc.

I knew there would be some logical reason. He looks like he would rip you to pieces but Watchdog is a ***** cat to his fellow forum chums.

Still I would not like to try out his bite :)

appreciate the quick response. usually i check through my 'stats' and the look through my posts. so no evidence of spelling mistake post, or tax deductible thread either. and if what you say is true, then why did i not receive an email about said deleted post? Regards.

Because the entire thread was deleted. Not because of your post.

It would be impractical to contact each member who posted in a thread when the thread itself was deleted. The thread starter would have received a PM

Please remember the moderators are volunteers - the less work we have the better. We are just to keep order and make sure things don't descend into anarchy.

Is the one you refer to the one I quoted? It is there.

ok, so i am considering the possibility of my server timing out, and also just realised that i might not have been emailed 'cos i didn't start the thread where my response was deleted.

damn, dog, you're too quick. you keep anticipating my response as i'm typing it!! no. i can't find the said thread so it remains a possibility that it no longer exists. i will try to stop taking this personally. lol ! go have a beer!

oh, and i just re-read your post (selective vision) and yes, you star, that is the post i left about spelling mistakes! where IS that? goodnight sweetheart. xxx

Something I don't believe in is picking up/having a go at members because of spelling errors or typing, none of us are perfect, and if I am honest - That was one of my hates on other forums.

Regards,

Admin.

(The older guys, here - would know that).

(Not that you were doing that, nobed).

Admin 'that' shouldn't have a capital letter as it is in the middle of a sentence ;)

:coat

Ah we can all make mistakes, but text talk does get on my goat!

I hate TEXT Talk. ]:)

On here. Do what you like in a text.

My text messages are in perfect English. Capital letters, punctuation etc.

I can't even understand some of the texts I get. Reading them aloud seems to help.
