Hello,
I needed to extend the power cable inside an existing plug casing. I was creating a partition over an existing wall and the cable wasn't long enough to get to the new socket location.

(a) should a qualified electrician do this and

(b) was this the right junction box to use? Ive started reading that it should have been 30amp rather than the 24am stated on this product:

cant see any earths coming from the new T&E. if thats a ring circuit you have also connected the wiring wrong. you also have sheath removed before the enclosure. its a complete bodge borderline dangerous

it looks like you will need to use crimped or maintenance-free connections, as any other type need to be inspectable. this includes those connections within the FCU on the right (and the other double socket on the left?). The earth wires within the extending cables need to be connected and there should be no unsheathed wires outside of an enclosure. There are quite a few things wrong with the way you are trying to do it up to now. It might be prudent to get someone in to do it for you.

Thanks chaps...suspected as much.  The connector block didn't feel right when inserting the old two red/two black (32a from fuse box).  I did need to run a sheath around the earth cables (the earth is from the original run just not sheathed).  I'll call an electrician to extend it properly rather than tidying it up.
