I am on fri going to a clients to change a faulty transformer, on a 4 x lv 12v 20w lamp wire light. Can i use a standard 105 va transformer and hard wire the wires into the secondary side? And just fix tranny to ceiling. Or will I need something like this? http://www.lightingstyles.co.uk/LV_Tension_Wire_100VA_Transformer.htm

Seems a bit pricey:O

No dimmer. Not installed one of these before? Help much appreciated and got no help from moron/zombie on phone at citys. :z

it all depends on what the client wants - how the transformer is mounted and what it looks like....

if you are unsure go like for like in style....

thanks for reply. will really have to see what set up he has first. Trying to match it up blind is hard!! I cant use a electronic tran as this can create noise and harmonic issues for tv signals etc. So it is a wire wound or torrodial tranny which come in around 25 to 75 quid. He prob is better off getting a new fitting. Because until i see it cant tell what is going into the secondary side, the wire direct or something that hooks off onto the tension wires? :_|
