As others have said, your best course of action is to contact your local college. They will advise you on your best course of action, bearing in mind your circumstances, prior qualifications and ability.

Don't rush into any "promise all" courses for large fees, they can't deliver an experienced electrician at the end.

Study slow, take it in, and get some practical experience behind you along the way, even if you do one day a week free for a local sparky, it's all knowledge that will serve you well.

yer the money comes into it but i love messing about with all this stuff i build my owen pcs and can safey say i can see me doing it the rest of my life as for the job i do now i carnt so need a fresh start and how do i get a job without the know how and taning fella

how do i get a job without the know how and taning fella
***** yourself out a bit for nothing on evenings\weekends or whenever. Like I say, there's loads of people doing the same thing so you either need to be amazingly good or offer some incentive to potential employers. One man bands and smaller co's would be better, try ringing a few.

Start at the bottom. Few hours free here and there, pulling cables through, crawling around lofts, anything you can.

I tag along with my mate when I know he's got a big PIR on a commercial, just for the experience, as I plan to do 2391 later in the year. No pay, just help, watch and learn.

so would you say like contack a componey and ask if i could tag a long and just help bring stuff lol what about the night cours at college do i start one at a time and progress that ways so am still get some info and the basics sorted or would you say go for an apprenticeship

Please Mark, take this the way it is intended. Hopefully you are just typing fast and being a bit lazy not using the spell checker. But you do need to get into the habit of doing a few basic checks with your spelling, because it gives a very poor impression of you and this could become a more serious issue if looking to change jobs. I have highlighted a few errors below, not all of them, but for such a small amount of text there are quite a lot. Remember electrical work involves some writing, especially if you want to be giving customer quotes and invoices.

well thanks for the slap in the face pal am dyslectic deal with it
That is one of the uses of a spell check button, to help all members of society, even those of us who are dyslexic.

If you are serious about changing employment, I had presumed you would be writing letters to prospective employers, as many members on here do, looking for work. All I suggested, is that it is good to get into a professional attitude toward your written communications, to help you stand out from the crowd, rather than just be filed in the reject pile. I apologise if this is not the sort of assistance you were looking for. Remember, there may have been potential contacts from people already on this forum, first impressions do carry a lot of weight.

I'm positive Doc never meant any offence, but perhaps if you'de explained your dyslexia from the beginning, this could have been avoided. There are members who won't even read a badly written post so by explaining you broaden your replies.

If you stick around you will find the members on here very helpful, sometimes critical, but it's all meant in the right way.

well i dont like telling folks fella thay look at you like your some sort of thick t**t but i get what he is trying to say and still carnt fined the spell check LOL headbang

No one can describe a dyslexic as thick, my wife has a friend who is dyslexic and is now based in the US working as an earthquake specialist, she has more letters after her name than there are in the alphabet, so if you want it bad enough, you'll get there.

We are not here to judge anyone, everyone is welcome on this forum.

Females (me), vets (apache) no-one is singled out at all.

Oh yeah and plumbers and tutors and a writer :)

We got the lot :)
