Customer supplied his own 6.5 kva honda generator.

We fitted it to consumer unit via briggs and stratton 100 amp change over switch

All good except that this thing will not take a high load like a (kettle)

The engine just stalls .(nothing else trips)

Any Ideas ??????

I would check the voltage when its no load. I have a friend with a similar machine and it was struggling. I measured 150VAC at the terminals. Measured the frequency and it was about 43hz. Found a speed control on the carb and slowly increased the speed til I had 240v at approx 50hz. Seemed to work fine afterwards. Make sure engine is fully warmed up before doing anything.

Agree with revjames had the same prob, as well as warmed up, if it is a manual choke make sure it is off when warm. That is why the one I looked at was stalling when loaded, put the choke off and it worked like a wee sweetie.
