Hi,

I need some help. I'm an average bloke who has just bought a second hand Hotpoint FZA84 upright freezer. When I collected it I sutipdly dropped the power cable and trod on it pulling the blades off at the base of the freezer. They are undamaged but I need to know which ones to put them back onto. The earth is still connected but I want to make sure I put the right female on the right male connector.

Help please. Anyone?

We really need a picture to help with this.

unfortunately as a new member you can't post pictures.

Can one of the Admin's update his status to allow him to post a picture then we can try and help?

as above, pic needed. but if youre lucky, the termianls may be marked - if so, post what the markings are and what colour flex you have going to the bit thats came off (should be blue & brown)

Had a look at the "junction box" and no markings on it. Can't even see any scratch marks on the blades to give me a clue.

Tried to post photo but I'm a techie idiot and can't seem to take a photo with a small enough mb. Sorry.

You should be able to use the private messaging service on the forum now.

So if you want to I'll send you my email address by PM and you can email the picture to me and I'll post it.

I have the pictures.  I will re size them and post them on the forum later. then I think the answer will be easy. But sadly I have to go out just now so I'll be back later.

Here's the best of the pictures, cropped and re sized.

I would say that's just a junction box in effect and your brown wire goes onto the vacant spade next to the existing brown wire, and your blue wire goes onto the vacant spade next to the existing blue wire.

Does everyone agree?

id agree with those connections too. just make sure you put it back together correctly and that the lid cant be easily removed from the connections. and maybe put a cable tie around the flex to the frame so it cant be rived out again

Looks like the relay that should be plugged into the side of the compressor actually.
