In the sticks…
This time I can't connect to the internet. Wifi in the house works just fine on the phone, and the laptop connects to it but I've got no internet connection. Have tried resetting internet settings and removed the wifi comnection and reconnected again but no luck.

It also says "unidentified network" when I'm connected to it, but I used to have it as my Home network. (Hope this translation makes sense, laptop is in Swedish).

A little help please. Any ideas what I can do?

(And yes I have turned it off and turned it on again :) )

I have this happen quite a bit in the office :) , if your on xp you need to right click the icon in the corner and then click reset. On windows 7 you need to right click on the icon in the bottom right and troubleshoot problems. This process forces the laptop to turn off the wi-fi card, clear settings/cache/dns list, then re-enables the card renews your IP address and connects back to the wi-fi.

This usually solves the issues with losing connectivity

:)

As a recent convert myself you might like to try Ubuntu as in LINUX I can't praise it highly enough. I managed to "restore" my Windows 7 laptop to a certain point but couldn't connect to the internet.

I burnt an Ubuntu LIVE DVD and used that.............on the internet in seconds.

For times like these you really should have an Ubuntu LIVE DVD standing by.

Sorry, I completely missed your post!

I've tried that and it still doesn't work. Thank you though. Clever computer wizard is currently on about IP addresses and default gateways...

Note to self, do not try to post on here and text at the same time :)

You've been spending a lot of time with steptoe? :) I've spent a lifetime with Windows, I'm not sure I could cope with a change... :)

I can say this in all honesty that Ubuntu is a revelation. Using it now. I had always avoided Linux thinking it was only for nerds and geeks. Looks better than Windows, more intuitive, quicker to boot up and shuts down in seconds, what's not to like. You really want to just have a go with a LIVE DVD. Even got my 21 year old niece using it. Got her old computer working perfectly.

Simple: Put the DVD in, switch the laptop off. Switch the laptop on. Hit "Try".
