Actually I did... didn't use my clamp meter though;)

Once the element had been on for a while the water directly in the vicinity of the element was boiling (just a bit), the stat would switch off the element, convection would take place cooling the element/stat tand the cycle would start again.

It happens with all Immersions,, it's just that this one amplified the sound for some reason!

 
I told you that immersion amplifier was a bad idea!! but would you listen??

Is there any cure for it then, or is it a case of thats life?

 
This might reduce the noise level.

In science at school, I seem to remember placing broken ceramic potery into beakers to reduce the bubbling when boiling water. Although the ceramic was directly over the heat source so might not be of much use in an immersion tank.
