Can anyone give me some information on this twin & earth cable please.

Has been used for a ring main on a 32a MCB & 30ma RCD, does not look man enough on a 32a

Installed about 8 years ago buried in plaster wall in a  games room at the end of a garden.

Description

Round white sheath in construction 8mm across the outside with aluminium sheath inside.

All solid core conductors.

L & N Copper measures 1.36mm

CPC Aluminium measures 1.36mm

Need to know what use it is for, if it is ok for what it has been used for and it's rating etc please.

Forum will not alow me to upload pictures

Cheers all Mike.

I'd go for 1.5mm sq "FP200" type with a white sheath?

That is, as wozz has suggested BS8436 type.

In 1.35 mm dia comes out at as near as dammit 1.5mm sq.

This would only be acceptable for a ring final if it were reference method E in table 4D2A, 22A rating, all other installation methods are below the 20A required for a ring final cable rating.

Cheers Fella's, Info gratefully received, but I forgot  to mention that it looks like a white coax on the outside, thought it was some sort of 1.5mm fireproof  cable.

Would have posted a piccy but was unable to at the moment.

Cheers, Mike.

not the 'armoured' stuff they use on new builds with steel partition walls is it? Under regs cables need to be earthed on the outside in case they short out to steel framework. Have to say I know sod all about this stuff as I have never used it.

Are you getting an Error Upload Error ?

From what i know the foil on FP200 is just that foil (really thin), BS8436 cable has a much thicker foil (maybe 1/2mm)

Ive had to use BS8436 once where I was unable to keep my cable in a "zone" and >50mm deep

Quite Noz, I may have been mixing numbers up there.

I'd have to check.

However, as you say "FP200" type the foil screen is not sufficient to carry fault current.

The "screen" would need to be checked to see if it was a "screen" or an "earthed mechanical protection"...

Prysian FP200 Gold, 1.5mm rated at 16.5 amps enclosed 19.5 amps clipped direct so I will pop it on a 20 amp MCB as it is on a ring.

Many thanks to you all going to have tea and choccy biscuit !

Yes 3 cores of 1.36mm 2 x copper 1 x Aluminium cpc Aluminium sheild then sheath.

It's a big games room at the end of a garden, just had a new 100 amp single phase supply run in, 32mm 3 phase run up the garden then single phase  for the last 15 metres into the building they charged £5250, did not include digging the trench just lay and connected it in the road, I'm fitting a  new CU  etc, customer using it for making ceramic teeth, 2 worktop furnaces for firing etc 1400 watts each plus new ring and compressor, few hand tools, 2 x 1800 watt heaters the old ring is only for a computer and printer.

Mike.

Was her ex husbands office, he called it "HQ" but now we have run in waste pipe to drain and water supply, being kitted out for making ceramic teeth which are made from molds of plaster filled with ceramic then fired.
