Hi I am just about to renew my insurance, and just wondered how much cover i should go for.

depend what u doing ..

always make sure your well covered .. 1 or 2 mill sometimes is not enough most schools or businesses ask for at least 5 mill some ask for 10 mill.

I have 5m cover which I was asked for to cover the commercial/industrial work.

I believe 2m is enough for house bashing,

NICEIC are happy with 2Mill cover for my Approved status

NIC may be, however, your customers may not be, best to be sure.

I have one that insists on 5MIL PI & 10MIL PL!

The question I would ask is how much extra for the higher cover level? Chances are they will never even pay out the lower amount so I'd expect the higher levels of cover not to be too much more. If it's a case of a few pounds go high! No-one is ever going to turn you away for being too well insured!
