Kids missing school & fines

For those parents that take kids out of school for holidays & dont get permission from the school, Mrs107 has some infomation you might like (or not as the case may be) to know about.

She works in a school & today got notification of new legislation that has been given the nod by the goverment. local authority/councils will now/shortly be able to fine parents if children are absent with unorthorised holiday during term time.

The fine has been set at

We have to fill out holiday forms if we take the children on hols during term time.

We are going away the end of july and the children are missing the last 3 days of term, holiday forms are ready to be filled out

What ever happend to the legislation the government was to bring in about the holiday companies charging a fortune during school holidays which is why some families have to take their kids on holiday during school time?

you've got to ask yourself What's more important a holiday or your kids education. My kids educations alot more important.

Teachers training or inset days?? yes?

Kids are required by law to attend a certain amount of days of school per year.

but actually the amount they attend is 5 more than that. so they can have a week with no penalties

teacher days are seperate.

This is the first time i have ever taken my children out for a holiday in term time!!

My friends ex is taking their children to egypt nextweek for 2 wks, because its saving them nearly a grand!!

Altho saying that, mine are all still young, i think i wouldnt take them out of school if they were in comp.

I think the government are more and more obsessed these days, with children's education , testing and examining them to destruction , threatening parents. The truant figures today are astronomical but they do sod all about that because they know that the kid's parents do not give a $hite .

This may not go down very well with Big Brother but in my opinion children belong to their parents, they are a family, if Dad's holiday from work doesn't coincide with what the government has decreed then its hard brown stuff .

School, while important, comes second to family values , leave resonsible parents alone and sort out this forgotten army of no-chancers who I see wandering the streets in school hours learning their own lessons like stealing cars , robbing shops, where to buy drugs, starting to smoke.
