Kit compatable with a Doepke CU

Hello there,

I am trying to find a 30ma time delay rcd for a Doepke board,

I was wondering is there any other makes of rcd out there that will fit into it. The unit I have is a 12 way & it will have 3 sub mains feeding other outbuildings which will be classed as special locations (zones 1&2).

What I am after achieving is to disconnect supply locally rather than tripping out the rcd on the main board.

Which is the best way round this.

30mA S would not be a standard RCD for many manufacturers I suspect,

why do you need one? its an odd request.?

and I am finding it hard to come up with a scenario where one would be required.

feed the outbuildings in a manner that doesnt require RCD protection at the distribution point

Thanks for the quick reply,

The supply comes into a new steel building which will have 8 strip lights,4 double sockets,an outside telephone kiosk & 2 external bulkhead lights on passive sensors fed from the Doepke board 12 way board.

3 of the ways will be used to feed the 3 out buildings.

Am I right in thinking that I should leave out the rcd at the main board & protect the sockets & outside lights in the new steel building with rcbo's & use the rcb protected boards in the outbuildings only.

There are plans to build 4 car garages with a single socket outlet & 1 strip light in each garage on the site thats why I got a bigger board to supply each building on its own circiut.

I passed my 2391 inspection & test 3 weeks ago after an 18 month training coarse, I have learned a lot from reading the question & answer boards I seem to have my tutors voice still in my head.

I know what you mean about it been fairly basic questions, I always make myself look the simpleton by stating the obvious all the time.

It was how I was taught to do it, I must find my own way of expressing myself to you guys.

You should as already pointed out know this stuff & it can be found in the brb & osg...but here we go..(I'm assuming you have a single rcd high integrety CU)

Metal building circuits:

split between rcd & non rcd side, those on non-rcd side use rcbo's.

3 Submains to other outbuildings:

use swa & as a distribution circuit & if criteria as per brb can be achived place all 3 on non rcd side of Doepke cu.

At the 3 outbuildings terminate to individual cu's & 30mA rcd/rcbo as required.

Keep in mind I have no idea of the supply type & have assumed TN (I'd TT the out buildings just personal pref)

You will also have to think about what you are wanting to use a 30mA RCD for, if it's to provide additional protection as per brb...surely a time delay rcd regardless of its rating will not give this protection?

M107 you'd think that of an s type, but IIRC somewhere it says you can use it so I've been told by a reliable source.

Supply is TT Lights & sockets in metal shed run off rcbo's,submains are in swa fed from main board.

Will it be an advantage to protect the swa cables with a 30ma rcd type s to give extra protection?, This is due to cables at risk of being chopped by the copper thieves.

All out buidling have garage style consumer units with 30ma rcd for sockets & lights, need a time delay rcd installed as customer wants some descirmination between rcd,'s this is due to outbuildings using high pressure jetting equiptment to wash off moto x bikes.

There is a 100ma stand alone unit to be fitted on the tails,I know its overkill on the protection, but thats the way I like things .

Nedl still not connected up meter yet as voltage varies for 190v to 254v they are trying to sort it.

100mA is sufficient to protect the SWA, i wouldn't bother with anything else. Are you going to rod the outbuildings?

its NOT overkill,

its a requirement for TT.
