So the customer has a nice budget for the kitchen

salesman comes in measures it up does a good pitch,they spend too much, they get their lovely 3D colour picture and decide where everything is to go......

Need a sparky Badger turns up (being the only proffessional adherring to the regs) quotes them but their budget does not run to it.

a bit like whats happended with this job with me then NOZ

it just makes a complete mockery of our industry!! i thought bringing part p into the building regs would stop / should stop alot of this crap! going on, but it obvously hasnt.

people are thick or deluded if they dont realise that if some one is doing a job cheap, they dont know what they are doing or aint going to do it properly,

the kitchen fitter is daft for not charging a grand and doing the same crap job, he may as well.

people are always spending a thouseds on kitchen and scrimping on electrics, keeping old tiles etc.

As far as ind/comm goes we have some leverage via statute & civil law cases, and premises insurance requirements.

The only hope you have with domestic is LABC, or the customers buildings insurance small print, if you can get access to it!

Check out your own for an example it "may" have the info you want...

I was talking to a customer who writes software (databases and control) who said he and others lost a job to someone,,, they quoted between

lets be honest, if it was your kitchen and a local plumber quoted 1500quid to do various work and the kitchen fitters would do it for 650, I think I'd be looking for new kitchen fitters.

All we can hope is that these companies muck up or the clients get caught up and prosecuted there are statute & case law jobbies out there!

This was one of the problems I had back a year ago, being undercut by 50%!

The job cannot be done for that correctly, but the thing is who knows or understands it, or even cares as long as it is somewhere near these days it seems!

well a bit of info for you guys to chew on, it appears as though nothing has gone on at the said property at all, no vans, cars, skip rubbish hasnt been emptied or filled even more, same stuff in skip, so im assuming they havent even sorted anything else out, now the only thing i did notice when i looked at the job was that she has no kitchen atall and is using a temporary kitchen in the dining room :slap

i will do some extras if im on a day rate and have spare time.....thats only fair

extra extras go swivel if you want a freebie.

i did a job few weeks back charged them a day,,,the guy helped me and i was done by 3pm

i asked him if there was anything else need doing,,,,nope home time.
