I recently got an external monitor for my laptop and I am getting horizontal bars/waves on the monitor. Unplugging the laptops power fixes the problem and so does using a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter. However, neither options are feasible. So what can I do?

BTW, I live in Canada BC. So if I need to buy something it would be nice if you can suggest where I might find it.

Thanks.

ah, we have had this problem before with someone,

although the bad news is I have no idea where/how to find the thread,

good news,= Im pretty sure it got sorted,

someone with some brains may be along in a bit and able to find the thread for you, hopefully. :)

oh, and welcome,

I have never had this problem with video on an external monitor before but have had ground issues with my laptop serial port connecting to non-isolated RS 232 on variable speed drives - for that I use an rs232 isolator So I would suggest using a VGA signal isolator

One (Cant quote URLS) on fleabay, or google to see if anywhere in Canada stock similar devices
$140... Thats as expensive as my 23inch monitor.
