I am learning about testing in my c&g 2330 level 3 course but I want to know more about the basic dead tests and live ones.

Can anyone recommend a book or site that takes you through the testing?

Is there an anagram to remember the procedure of tests?

I heard of CIPL but i think its incorrect?

Dead Tests

Continuity

Insulation Resistance

Polarity

Loop Impedance

I found Brian Scaddan's Inspection, Testing and Certification book very useful approx

on site guide

nic eic inspection, testing and certification,

the dvd is also ok

Several variations, I was taught CRIPE for dead testing

Continuity (of protective conductors)

Ring (ring final continuities)

IR

Polarity

Earth electrode (where applicable)

have a look on amazon kiwiNCFC, Pratical Guide to inspection testibg & certification of electrical installations by Christopher Kitcher 2nd edition i found this book very usefule as goes thru all the test & has really good pictures in it aswell also has your forms in the back & explains some of them for you

Cheers might get that book! only a tenner Thanks everyone for your help.

Hello,

Just been doing this on L3 myself:

Continuity of Protective Conductors

Continuity of Ring Final Circuit Conductors

Insulation Resistance

Polarity

Earth Electrode Resistance (TT)

Earth Fault Loop Impedance

Prospective Fault Current

Functional Testing incl. RCD Operation

Hope this helps and isn't too late.

i may be out of my depth here, but

from my perusals of this forum

i have understood that earth loop impedance is a live test

not a dead one

please correct me if i have this wrong

mr smith

In order:

I don`t actually know a mnemonic for the order of tests - because they`re carried out so often, I just know, TBH.

I do have the NICEIC guide to inspection, testing & certification -
