Ok, customer has asked for 6 low energy recessed spots for the ceiling above the kitchen worktop.

there is no preference here for gu10, MR16, R50 ,R63, R80, CFL, LED, etc etc etc

Now,,,,who likes what? ; \

Technically only CFL & LED can really be called low energy. Personally I would use CFL as I'm still not convinced about the light distribution of LED.

but what type? gu10, R50 ,R63, R80 or other?

I would go for the GU10's but the CFL's may be longer than a standard GU10 lamp so you may need a special accessory for it. Your local wholesaler should know. Think Aroura do the megaman CFL's as a package too.

You can get CFL GU10 fittings that are a bit roomier inside and aren't rated for halogen GU10's so work out a bit cheaper.

Don;t they also have a slightly modified connector to stop standard gu10's being put in too?

I know that GU 10s have a Bevel which does not allow GZ10 (dichroic) but I don't know about the cfls
