HI All got a call today got a splitter freeding 4 room an internal booster feeding 1 of the rooms coax came out ,and now all the rooms don't work headbang

I'm going to guess that the question was something along the lines of;

Hi. I got a call Today from a customer with a problem with the TV distribution. There is a splitter that feeds 4 rooms from the 1 aerial. In one of the rooms there is a small box which they say is a single booster and the coax has come adrift from this and this has also knocked the other 3 TV's off.

Now, if that is what the question was, then the small box they have disconnected was probably the power supply for the amp and not a single set amp.

If that isn;t what the question was meant to be then it needs more info really, or worded in English.

Hi. I got a call Today from a customer ( a Friend )with a problem with the TV distribution. There is a splitter that feeds 4 rooms from the 1 aerial. In one of the rooms there is a small box which they say is a single booster (Which is ) and the coax has come adrift ( Which was put back in )from this and this has also knocked the other 3 TV's off.Been out and had a look today

The small box they have disconnected is a single set amp.

Don't mean to offend Do this for a living

i would say they tried to fix the fault themselves gave up and called you.

so what you see is not the correct operational setup,,so i would start from scratch at the incomming splitter

confirm if it requires a power supply if so is it connected

make sure the ae income is in correct slot and is made off properly

all outputs are sound

make sure the single booster is working and connected correctly and switched on it could be feeding the power to the splitter.

look at every tv point in the house there could be another supply

ask more questions of the house owner they always keep back a nugget of info that helps

Well if they reckon it worked then they unplugged something and it stopped, so plugged it back in and it now doesn;t then either it is now plugged in wrong or something has stopped working. You need to find what is connected where and check how it should be wired up rather than assuming that your friend has put everything back as it was.

It's either something to do with what they have touched or something has gone pop in the middle of all the plugging and unplugging of kit.

Now, if that is what the question was, then the small box they have disconnected was probably the power supply for the amp and not a single set amp.
I'd say that's the likely scenario. 4-way passive splitters are available, but not very common in the domestic field because of the losses involved in such a 4-way split of the signal. If the unit has an integral amplifier, then it must be getting power from somewhere: Some connect directly to the supply, others are designed to have power fed to them along one of the outputs to enable them to be fitted in places where power is not easily accessible.

Any chance of giving us some model numbers or other details to go on?

Reminds me of the call a week after I'd installed a four way Labgear

Client "The picture quality has suddenly dropped"

Me "Have you been playing with the cables?"

Client "No it just seems to have got worse"

Me "OK I'll drop by when I pass by tonight"

I get to the client, and sure enough, it's not good, so I ask again, "Have you moved anything?", "well we did move the AV rack, but we put all the cables back"

Suffice to say, they had put the aerial feed into Sky RF2, and the RF2 out into the aerial in, even though I'd labelled them headbang

so much for asking on the phone if they had messed around with it
