Gone through 3 of these batteries in 12 months - comes up as fault on charger. Ok as they are on guarantee and customer service is great. Just not looking forward to when guarantee runs out as the batteries are expensive.

Anyone else having problems with these batteries - maybe i just go too hard.

In my opinion all cordless power tool batteries, li-ion or Ni-cad, are an extortionate price. In an age when we are meant to be helping the environment and cutting down on waste I fail to understand how most often its better value for money to purchase a complete power tool including battery than to just purchase a battery pack on its own. With the number of cordless power tools sold each year it can't be due to low volumes of sales. You can typically get a battery for you car cheaper than a replacement for a drill.

Are you sure its not the charger? If you do have a battery replaced under warranty, then I would have thought that the new battery should also be fit for purpose and last longer than 12months. Even if the original drill is no longer coved by a warranty the replacement parts on an old product would still have some warranty themselves.

That was my thought as well. When I get a new battery fitted in my car that has a 12month warranty, no matter how old the car is.

Your guarantee may run out but it would be "unreasonable" for the batterys to keep going faulty and may be deemed unfit for purpose.

I don think the warranty will be 12 months for new batteries replaced, it will prob run from when yOu bought drill.

My friend had his iPhone replaced by apple 9 months into contact. The battery wouldn't hold a charge. They replaced iPhone with a brand new one, but the warranty ran from purchase date, so he only had 3 months warranty on new iPhone.

there are stories of were people have taken back say electronic items such as a tv after the guarantee cos trading standards have said that the tv going wrong again after parts have been fitted and not be under guarantee was deemed "unreasonable"

have been using these for last couple of years with no problems. What are you dong to them??

Is that the technical term used in the manufactures troubleshooting FAQ's Nicky? I am inclined to agree with your suggestion that somethings wrong with the charger, it doesn't seem right for three batteries all to fail.

Charger isnt the only common item. Could be the drill/whatever too.

This can be an issue - the fan on mine seems to be tempremental some days. Left it charging without fan one day, and there was a definite smell of hot electrics - have made sure fan starts up very time since.

Fan is works fine. It works tidy on impact driver, drill, jigsaw, grinder, reciprocator - it is the circular saw that does it to the batteries - Yes maybe there is somthing up with that or maybe I just expect too much out of it. thanks for your replies

What are you cutting with the saw? They are normally sold as 'trim saws' which may not have been designed for sustained site usage.

Plywood sheets normally - I have a 110 for heavier work.
