Good evening,

I am looking to train as an electrician with a company in the north wales/chester area. I currently work on a 4 on 4 off basis, so would ideally be looking to learn around these times.

Any help would be much appreciated.

kind regards

chris

you wont find it that way or you will be amazingly lucky if you do. there a few ways to learn im doing evening course twice a week takes 2 years there are short courses but most will tell you on ya there just a waste of money. basically give you the papers even if you cant change a plug which sounds nice but you will be in a hell of a mess in ur first job lol

you sound like ur probably in my boat working full time family etc. problem is aprentices earn £2.60 or there about for first year and you would have to leave ur job because that would be full time with the college. so i would say going to college 2 night a week (costs £500 a year but with working tax or family tax cred its 1/2) around ur job to get a feel for it there is a fair bit of workshop and the turtors will be a good source of infomation and tell you about 500x more infomation that is usefull than is required to pass. then if you enjoy it and really want to go for it either work for free or next to if 1day a week round ur job for a local spark to get experiance till you get certs then basically up to you from there

one thing do not be tempted by any short course you will learn how to fit accesories, circuits and basically everything a electrician has to do but, what they wont show you is how to figure out what the last DIY muppet has done because there simply isnt enought time. the main thing that is wrong with them is there short and dont allow you enough time to practice in the workshop on ur house, family, friends, friends of friends houses. i know if i do a hobble tomorrow and there is a birds nest of wires and i get in a real knott i can give my tutor a call or see him in col and he will be able to help me if i were on a short course id have the same problem no support less practical experiance and id be calling myself fully quilified.

only use for a short course is for a sparky that hasnt got papers, which there are hardly any of these days, and cowboy builders who dont give a f... about the customer or if there house burns down the week after install.
