When testing the trip times on a merlin MCCB 100mA vigi-unit. The instrument dosn't record the disconnection times just simply displays a trip message.

Anyboby have a similar issue or can shed any light on the problem?
Answer from Megger below, i hope this helps.....

HI Mark

I assume this is on mft and the customer is not trying to do a 5 time trip test, try to do the test times one with the time delay S symbol on the screen you select the 100ma range then press the up down arrows on the left side of the meter until a box with S in it is displayed then carry out test, also get the customer to check the mccb to see if there is a small box with an S in it this denote its time delayed which I suspect as hes is getting trip on display

Cheers

Garry

Thanks for the info Mark. It had already been noted that the vigi unit was fully adjustable (time delay & trip current) but the setting dial was indicating that no time delay had been set on the unit.

Oddly thou when testing with the 1720 in RCD time delay mode a trip time was recorded. I can only presume that time delay adjuster on the vigi unit was faulty.
