Meter help

I am installing solar pv for a chap who has 7 small offices. He wants me to provide a solution that means he hasn't got to manually calculate usage for each of the offices. Is there a range of meters (digital) whereby he can input his charge per kWh into each and then whenever he reads the meters he has just got to bill each of the units for what it says they have used in monetary terms.

Firstly, the Solar PV is unrelated to the question, so is a red herring?

He just sub lets 7 offices, so needs to meter the electricity used by each one, so he can bill them accurately?

So any cheap meter from ebay will do.

Multiply units used by the cost per KWH to him (allowing for any standing charges as well) and that's what each office needs to pay.

Or does he really want to pay a lot more just for the meter doing some simple arithmetic?

ProDave, this guy is one of the biggest land owners in the SW and time is money. He doesn't want anything too high tech but needs the ability to send someone to these particular units and come back armed with figures he can bill. He doesn't want or have time to do the math lol!

Lol, thing is, this guy ain't a farmer - more a case of landed gentry and worth hundreds of millions. Not a bad idea though, I use the remote access and bill accordingly.

Anyway if your client cant spare that time, here is the answer

Meter with standard meter, enter into bill the KWh and have formula in word/excel or any other package that will work out and enter result automatically in bill - simples and at no extra cost (My consultancy bill is on its way)

Yep, at a cost that I suspect will make a loss! The initial cost of changing meters and a subscription etc etc

Cirrus, we have a comprehensive range of Ofgen (now MID) approved meters that will do the job.

Canoe is bang on the money in suggesting that the guy should use some sort of smart metering, we have the Elster or Iskra version available.
