I have a JOI,,,,

but it eats blades, and you can get them where?  :C

never could work with the BICC one either, my spark had one, but it done my head in,

Miss S , if you want to borrow my joi you are welcome, dunno how sharp it is these days though.  ;)

Ive got a 3point compression and a potting tool too somewhere,  :)

I cant  really explain the stick. Its the only method i was taught years ago. Can use a screwdriver also, You peel away a little bit of the micc end and insert it in the slot in the stick, you then twist the sheath off but a double action twist is needed. It took me at least a week to get the hang off it. You would have to be shown, i cant see how you could pick it up from here, ask your tutor  ( how old is he ?)

The desciption actually made me think of a tin of corned beef! :D I'm glad I'm not the only one... :)

I'll ask my tutor if he can show me tomorrow. If he's got the tools for it that is. He's in his late 50's and I think he's done a fair bit of pyro back in the day.

Stripping bar or as I call it ..The Universal Pyro Stripper  .  All the proprietry stippers sold are a waste of space , IMHO, all that peeing about with setting blades etc.

As The Slippery One says and Stepps,   .. peel back an inch of copper sheath , flatten it with pliers, insert it into slot in end of Stripping bar and start winding it off.    The angle of the bar to the cable  must be correct and maintained or the sheath will break off .  After a bit of practice its quite simple .TBH

I made the stripper as an apprentice and still have it after all those years.  The other tools are not for MICC by the way ,in case you weren't sure,  No1 is The Down behind Skirting Boards Basher ( AKA  The DSBB)

No. 2  is an old brass bush tightener.

No.3  is one of  the worst tank cutters ever inflicted upon us ( The Dreaded Enox Cutter. )

No.4  is a locknut spanner , not been used for years.

No. 5 The mighty Pyro Stripper.

No.6   Also from apprenti days , Conduit stocks & Dies with replacable handles (Made from 3/4" conduit )

Is this a 'Who has most rust on there old tools' thread  :innocent     (I dug out my Joi stripper and  have had it in the bench vice for a week soaking in WD40  as the screw has corroded into Ali).

PS, it shows how little we all use these nowadays.

Well to my surprise , 3 weeks back I found myself using the stocks & dies to alter some steel conduit at the printers but once done I continued in PVC conduit .     Might be a pic somewhere here .

Ahh , noticed there different. I have a set like in your pic which i 'obtained' ahem many years ago. The dies are worn & now cut crooked but never found a stockist for a replacement. The odd times we need them i have a pair of the type commonly found everywhere.

Take a look at the sockets in the last pic.    The company had another sparks in , must have been cheaper than me .  They asked for some sockets around that area for general use and thats what they did ....put them all in a row in one place !!!

Then got me back to spread them round the area a bit  .

Also I must have connected that binding machine about 10 times as it keeps moving around the works .

Just thought I'd post a pic of the Sakuri presses at that place , we wired in about 10 years ago .
