what a plonker, I noticed he frequently took his hands off the rungs whilst climbing/ descending. what happened to 3 points of contact and was he hanging off a harness at one point? why?

i used for work for that lot. cant say im surprised at something like this happening. and i know the person involved....

that system is actually a good one, if used correctly. have done it myself a few times when i need both hands free. but it also needs anchored at the top to stop sideway movement like in the video. also useful on roof ladders

Sky use a similar setup

EDIT: just been informed that they are trying to sack the people who put the vid on youtube / facebook!

still thought it was dead funny though love they way the one guy said ''i think that shows the system doesnt work'' !! :slap fuuuunnnnnyyyyy

Is there any point in hooking yourself onto the ladder ??
I think it could be an anti theft device, so if you fall off your ladder, the ladder stays with you. As we all know the current value of scrap metal, if a ladder is left unoccupied for more than 2 minutes someone would be off down the scrap yard with that nice bit of unattended metal.

Doc H.

youve never been to their yard. id give any unattanded scrap 20 seconds. attached to someone or not

:slap Thats cheered me up tonight after such a miserable monday! Sorry, i know you shouldnt laugh when someone else has a silly accident, but I just couldnt help myself.

Perhaps they should stop H&S training on the grounds of Health & safety prevention, what a plonker Rodney!

Absolutely brilliant--- :slap :slap :slap :slap

Brilliant statement from someone in the back "Just goes to show it don't work"

WHY? Because he was attempting to show that he had done this deliberately as part of the demo. I think he was just about to say "look how well the strap prevents you from falling and hurting yu senz"

Well i couldn't understand what he was saying being a southerner but get the gist of what was going on lucky he wasn't further up ladder he could have really hurt himself then.

I have heard of this sort of thing before...some would say sack him.

Reason? No longer competent.

Not me...my approach? Re-train.

i wouldnt sack him either - after all, he's the elf n safety bloke who done a bad demonstration and failed, better him that someone else who's 'forced' to use the system without knowing the full way of how it works and what can/cant be done with it

should have just used a cherry picker much safer :slap

my view on this is if you didnt mess about like that on a ladder and just did the job with out trying to swing off the side or over reach etc etc etc then the ladders wouldnt have slipped and fallen over the accident would never had happened cause i know damn sure i would not have been hanging off the side of the ladder messing around id have been up down and job done :D

I'm with Batty, can some one post it again with subtitles in English :coat

Oh and Urdu, Gujarat, Hindi, Punjarb, Assam, Dogri, Ladacki, Kashmiri, and Manipuri being inclusive of course :)
