In the office again.
I`ve got a property to do next week, where I`ve eight `phone sockets to go in ( second fix). All eight conductors have been taken back to the utility room, where the BT master is.

Most of the `phone junctions for sale are only for 4 cables - I`ll need (at least) 9.

Any ideas, o wise ones of the forambulation?

Cpc. 20 pair dp

Connect the incoming line to ONE of the blue and white pairs....on LHS of Krone strip ( you connect to the RHS of the Krone strip)

connect all outgoing lines to the other pairs.

if you want to do it " belt and braces" then connect 2,3,4,5, for all the outgoings.

if it was me however i would do it in Cat 5 and fit a small patch panel

you know where to find my number, ring me if it is all Greek to you.

just connecting

I think i should rename you Phone Hacking Geek

Thank you.

Yes, I do know the number; but I think I can manage to follow your destructions somewhat.

"phone hacking geek"..... :slap Love it :)
Notice he had to get CPC into the dialect  :Applaud

If the OP's question is answered, may I ask is there a limit to the number of wires in a single punch down connector? If you could get all 8 could you legitimately stack them?

12 years ago in my own house I connected 11 cables together with 5a connector blocks in the back of the master, never had a problem. Call the phone police now.

I dont know the official answer but no more than 4 and some makes 3 from experience. I have seen more crammed in but these are unreliable.

we will shortly be in the process of removing shed loads of dp's, the phone system is going over to voip.

then you can always use the old BT "that will do" effort..........chock block or a butt connector.........you'd be surprised how many BT joints done this way that we come across round the different offices/buildings, obviously done before the Jelly's came about.

Just a final point.. Although at one time BT were happy with star (multiple radial) extension wiring from the master (and the "how many cables can I get in the IDC slot" was therefore "important" ) things are now different.

For adsl broadband use the star layout (= big aerial and some stub filters) causes speed and dropout problems and so daisy-chained connections are mandated meaning 2 cables per IDC limit is fine.

If they install infinity they now divert off the Adsl signal at entry (before it gets to the phone socket or extensions and block it from going further so it is ok to retain) star layouts in existing installations

With old DIY-install Adsl BT can improve the connection significantly by completely disconnecting any unused star cables at the grey wall box or master socket and disconnecting the bell wire from daisy chained extensions ( term 3, Orange/white) everywhere (the BT fairy enjoys doing this too)
