no ringing on the line, i've got 47v comming in and the master has been changed, also it will ring constant if 2/3 shorted so not the phone itself either. any ideas? :C

terminal 5 should be 0V to earth 'A' wire

terminal 2 should be -50V to earth 'B' wire

On older installations (pre-1980) cream or grey cables were used. They contained conductors coloured blue to pin 2, orange to pin 5, brown to pin 3 and green to pin 4 (if used), on some conversions green was used for pin 3 and brown for pin 4.

Additional Bells are wired between pin 3 (orange/white) and pin 5 (white/blue).

In recent years NTE5 or CTE5 Lineboxes are fitted in place of master sockets, these have a removable (lower half) panel which house the terminals to connect wiring to the secondary sockets. Terminal pins 1 and 6 may be absent on some versions of C/NTE5, but these connections are not normally used anyway.

have you got a dial tone?

ring 17070

select option 1

hang up

pick up phone after about 15 secs if it does not ring. Pick up straightaway if it does ring

you may be able to receive calls BUT not know that they are there as you can't hear it ringing. TBH sounds like an external BT fault to me [line grounded]

I had one a few weeks ago. 50V on line, phone would not work. BT came out anf found 4 faults within 200m........... :coat

My phone does this on and off, somedays it will ring and others it wont, I have been trying to resolve the issue for a couple of months with no luck BT insist the line is OK

the line obvously isnt ok otherwise a fault would not exist, take a school ive been working at today, fault with cctv camera in foyer to boys toilets area caretaker says no camera image in controls but the cable is ok gets test gear out test monitor hooked up checked incoming dc voltage all ok, picture on monitor, check other end with test monitor no image, put a temp short on coax test on ohms buzzer at camera end shorted sound remove the short i linked in should have open circuit oh no dead short still on cable, fault is a short on the screen of coax and the dialectric, (inner part of coax) conclusion my experience was far outweighing the caretakers none experience, caretaker reckons im wrong though!!! i have been cctv installing for 8-9 years caretaker is a roofer by trade

Why do CCTV camera manufacturers (cheaper end bullet cams) insist on having a short lead with connectors,,, every one of these that I have seen have been installed outdoors with the connectors swinging in the wind (except for the ones that I have done;))

And then they wonder why they stop working

I do believe it is illegal to have a camera in any part of any toilet, let alone a school.

I most certainly do not agree with any camera anywhere near any schoole toilet and I am sure the parents will have a field day with that.

I would hit the roof if that was my childrens school - I don't care if they only focus on the basins.

Even if the school has suffered with vandalism, there are limits to where a camera can be placed.

I worked at a factory once as a contractor.

IIRC there were a lot of minority groups employed there, there was so much trouble, fighting and vandalism in the toilets the unions requested full cctv coverage!

Yes that was in the UK, not local to me though!

The clients employee who was working with me told me the areas where there were no cameras so you could use the facilities in private!

It seems it is allowed to be in school toilets!
