I would recommend dog owners to get insurance.

I didn't at first because I thought my two cocker spaniels were young and never had anything wrong with them. Then one of them got a grass seed growing internally from paw to chest. Two major operations (didn't get it all the first time), and

Oooh, nasty, the seeds I mean, not the bill. Us spaniel owners have gotta watch out for them seeds. Nearly impossible to find. Hope he/she is ok now.

You can do a lot to help yourself by keeping the hair between the toes short.
