I have that set up in my hallway and I know 2 more houses that have been done the same way in my road too . I know that because my neighbour was fitting a new switch in his hallway and lost the all important link . I think it's a fairly common practice .

Maybe one of the older gents will know if it was a common thing and in what era (not meaning to be rude) , they have the knowledge us new guys lack, hell you gotta love a forum like this Applaud Smiley Applaud Smiley

This is a perfect example of how you could wire and outside light with just a T&E to the fitting.

Done it loads of times.

I still use that method, where I find it convenient, Android. Can save a lot of time & cable, in certain circumstances.......

Thanks GS

In my home the kitchen and living room are a very similar size, the drawing is that in the kitchen 2 gang 2 way switch , but the living room is the more modern method we have been taught at college, I am guessing at sometime the roses in the living room have been rewired the loop wire is in white T&E between the roses.

Its been worth while looking into it and discussing on here as its not something covered (yet) in college we have just been taught the modern method, this is the kind off stuff I guess you do not learn unless your doing the job day in day out.

In all fairness to our Lecturers, when I did the 2330 Level 2, the first thing that they taught us were the various Wiring methods for Lighting ccts. Old and New.

Now, Where are these pics of the wiring in your house, that Andy asked for?

Opps sorry Andy I missed that post I was typing at the time and just skimmed through to new new posts, will find camera and post as soon as .

You'd love a trip to my house to look at switches and lights, I like to think outside the box when wiring lighting circuits. ;)

How strange.

This ties in nicely with the other thread about 3 core and it not coming in sensible colours!
