Hello.

This didn't happen until last week, when I've changed my internet provider, and I had to unplug my old router and plugged a new one.

I feel the shock like a vibration.

This also causes a static in my microphone recordings.

What do you recommend?

Thank you, Paul.

#In my outlet there is an extension cord plugged.

Can't edit my post.

In the extension cord, there is my PC, my router and another extension cord plugged.

Into the seclnd extension cord, there is my printer, my TV decoder and the TV plugged.

This didn't happen until last week, as I said, when I've got my new router.

I have this custom made PC since 6 month ago, and this didn't happen until now.

Get your extension lead checked.

Is sounds very much like when you disturbed it to plug the new router in, the earth connection has come loose.

So that means that there will be required a new earth connection?

I'll call an electrician on Monday.

Steve, what do you mean by that?

And, didn't try to get a new extension cord. I will try that.

What I was trying to establish was did you actually touch your PC, which I assume if you are just changing router/modem you would not.

My son at Uni had Virgin which connected to his router with a F connector, he had problem and the engineer reported the voltage was to high on the screen.

The supply to router is generally through transformer and class 2, and the only connection would be the network lead.

If it's your PC then as Dave says the earth connection in the power lead may have failed in either end of lead or PC itself.

Or it could be that you're building up a static charge on yourself and discharging it through the nicely earthed pc case....

Is it every time you touch it or just now and then?

Have you had a new carpet fitted?

Have you changed your clothing, footwear, chairs recently?

He said he's getting a shock from the PC case, which should be earthed. So my logic is the earth connection has failed, probably in the extension lead.

If changing the extension lead does not fix it, try also a new IEC lead connecting from the extension block to the PC.

this of course is why commercial stuff is PA tested to find such faults.

It may be the earth has been dud for a long time, and it's only the introduction of a stray leakage voltage from the new router that has shown up the fault.

The thing is that this could be anything...

Static discharge

Faulty IEC lead

Faulty extension lead

Faulty socket

Faulty earth on circuit

Faulty earth to property

However... re-reading the ops description it doesnt sound like the sharp shock that you get with static and seeing as he has recently disturbed his extension lead then that should really be the first thing to check

Thank you for your answers!

The first thing I'll try right away will be trying a new extension cord.

I will come up with an update this afternoon.

I don't know how to get your post, but more like an insult, even if you don't have the reason to.

Come back to this topic when you can actually help.

This is a UK forum, People are posting about UK broadband suppliers which you were not aware of & they obviously did not read where you are. This forum is has numerous posts about various Eastern Europeans thus my comment. If you think that's an insult i suggest  you look elsewhere.

I hadn't spotted the OP's location.

The only way it is significant, is you have different wiring systems there to what we have, and most of us will not be familliar with what you have.

I assume you do have three pin plugs of some sort with an earth, so I would still be trying a new extension lead as my first attempt at solving the problem.

Glad you came right with the problem. I'd either get the original extension lead tested or throw it away to be safe. Sounds like an earthing issue with the lead itself so rather don't take chances and try to reuse it in future.
