Guys,

Last week I carried out a domestic PIR and one fault that I found was a L-sheath IR fault on some 4 core FP100 FP200.

Now as they are using a core as a CPC along with the sheath, I was thinking that I might change the configuration of the cable so that it had a CPC-sheath fault instead (all terminations marked up correctly).

What do you think of this as a "fix"? Because otherwise I'll have to replace the offending cable.

cant see a major problem short term, but long term i would want to replace it. the damage may not be limited to just that and may give more problems in the future

I did think that they might have caught a core while stripping and that is causing the short, but in all honesty the cable ends are quite difficult to get at,,,, I marked it down as a C2 and requiring further investigation as it wasn't RCD protected either.

Line fault to the sheath, Benji. Just goes to show

what may ensue when defects described above are

not picked up on inspection and test. A minor nick

in a cable may eventually lead to a major repair.

Right with you all now but from what i can rember fp100 are fire rated singles?the early fp200 had problems due to soft silicone insulation being nicked with ali.foil when the nylon ferules were not fitted
