I'm just back from launching my boat today.
Did it go to plan? Well not quite.
The forecast nice calm day turned out to be a stiff 18 knots from the SW, not the forecast 6 from the E.
We were in two minds to launch or wait for another day, but as getting helpers was hard, we went for it.
And the bloody outboard wouldn't run. Not what you want. Thankfully because of the conditions we had launched with a long line back to the harbour and warped the boat into the harbour.
So I've learned something about my motor today. It ran for half an hour just fine yesterday in a tank at home. It started fine as we launched the boat, then died. It had an inch of fuel in the tank so I thought that should be enough so left topping it up until later. Topped it up when were were tied up and it ran fine. So I now know my motor will stop when it gets down to the last inch of fuel in the tank.
Still the boat is in, with no damage so a successful day even if not quite to plan.
And while we were there a boat came off it's mooring.thankfully another club member was out testing their RIB so they rescued it before it went aground but that was a close call, damn handy they were out.
The harbour master remarked he hasn't known such a prolonged spell of bad weather at this time of year before.
