Hi Apache

I have just bought a 12 week old Cocker Spaniel the breeder has been feeding him on tin food and dry complete puppy food also goats milk

as soon as we brought the puppy home my wife gave the pup some of the goats milk, not long afterward we noticed that he had the ****s it was runny and he was yelping slightly as he went toilet, so it was obvious he was in some pain

On closer examination I noticed that there was a small trace of blood in the poo. we have taken him off the goats milk and every thing seems fine his poo has hardened and no sign of blood. he was also wormed just before we had him would this have caused the bleeding. we have had him for 5 days now and he is a very happy chappy should I worry about him.

Also he has been vacinated on the 24 feb 2nd time before we bought him so the vet would have seen him.

By 12 weeks you don't need to give any milk. It could be a lactose intollerance causing a bit of collitis. Was there mucus in the faeces with the blood? If it's better now I wouldn't worry. Also stress (moving to a new home?) can set them off with a bit of collitis.

is the tinned food for puppies? There's no need to add anything to a complete dog food. It's why they call them complete foods ;)

he needs worming every month until he's 6 months old :)

yes there was mucus

we want to get him on just dry food but dont want to upset his tummy so doing it slowly.

would worming tablets upset him

its been 16 years since we had a puppy, oh boy I dont remember it being like this lol

the pupply is well settled happy and very loving

You do right, but if he's already on the dry food you can change him over as soon as you run out of tins. I think it's worth spending a bit of money on decnet puppy food. Once they are fully grown feed them what the hell you like :)

depends on the type of wormer, it's active ingredient and where you bought it from. You can buy cheap wormers from pet shops and supermarkets but they are less effective and older drugs so mor likely to get side effects. The tablets fromyour vet may be a few pence cheaper but they are often better value and more modern safer drugs. :D
